When to Repot Your Houseplants?
5 Signs You Can't Ignore
Do you love your houseplants, but you're not sure when to repot them? If so, you're not alone. Repotting can be a bit daunting, but it's important to do it at the right time to keep your plants healthy and thriving.
Here are 5 signs that can tell you when it's time to repot your houseplants:
1. Roots are growing out of the planter
This is the most obvious sign that it's time to repot your plant. If you see roots growing out of the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot, or if they're circling around the top of the pot, it's time to move your plant to a larger container.
2. Plant is growing slowly
If your plant has stopped growing or is growing very slowly, it may be a sign that it needs to be repotted. A larger pot with fresh soil will give the plant the nutrients and space it needs to grow.
3. Leaves are yellowing or dropping
Yellowing or dropping leaves can be a sign of many problems, but one possibility is that the plant is root bound. When the roots are overcrowded, they can't take up enough water and nutrients, which can lead to yellowing leaves and leaf drop.
4. The soil is drying out quickly
If you find that you're having to water your plant more often than usual, it may be a sign that the plant is root bound. There are more roots than soil.
5. Plant is more than 2 years old
In general, most houseplants should be repotted every 2-3 years. However, some plants may need to be repotted more or less often, depending on their growth rate and size.
